Background
Dr. David Stiles has taught and researched strategy for nearly 20 years. New to the University of Canterbury in 2009, he was previoulsly at Cardiff Business School, one of the UK's leading research institutions. He has been a researcher and consultant in strategic management around the world, including the UK, North America and China. Dr. Stiles has industrial and commercial experience in the public and private sectors, including financial services - where he headed the marketing departments of two top 10 building societies. He was also Senior Consultant in Marketing Planning for the Welsh Development Agency, a premier UK body responsible for regional economic development. The author of over 40 academic journal articles, book chapters and refereed conference contributions, he is an active reviewer for Journal of Management Studies, British Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Business Research and others; as well as the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society. In 2008, he was awarded Best Paper on the Strategy-as-practice track at the British Academy of Management Annual Conference.
