Background
Dr. Ring has extensive experience in the design, implementation and operation of electricity and gas markets around the world. His PhD research was on the application of locational pricing in electricity markets. Dr. Ring's expertise covers all aspects of market design, including administration, system operation, market operation, settlement, and market monitoring. He has an extensive knowledge of optimisation techniques and practices used in the scheduling, pricing and simulation of energy markets.
Dr. Ring has been a Principal of the consulting company Market Reform since 2007. Previously he was Director of Energy Markets Consulting and prior to 1999 he was an Associate with Putnam, Hayes and Bartlett - Asia Pacific. He is a graduate of the Department of Management, University of Canterbury.
