Research

Currently, I am researching problems of the environment, especially water quantity and quality, incentives to improve ecology, and to reduce sediment, impervious cover, and flooding. The main method is the application of smart markets to environmental resources. These markets are cleared with constrained optimisation, but the market design generally requires considerable surrounding study in ecological economics, mechanism design, and hydrology. In the past, I have studied a variety of problems including scheduling, military readiness, cutting stock, fishery management, and nutrition, and these remain of interest to me.
