International Business
What is International Business?
This is the name for one of the Majors available within the B.Com degree. The subject areas covered by this Major include International Business, International Management, International Entrepreneurship, International Marketing, and International Finance, as well as a compulsory foreign language component and optional overseas-based study. The Major aims to produce graduates who have the integrated and multidisciplinary knowledge, skills and appreciation for international business practice that is needed by organizations with international operations.
Why study International Business?
The Major in International Business has been designed to cover the range of understanding and knowledge needed by individuals whose work will span international borders and operations. These graduates will be well suited to roles in multinational businesses, exporting and importing firms, trade organisations, and international NGOs. The Major has been carefully designed to ensure that all students, whatever their choice of electives, can spend the second semester of their second year of study abroad on exchange (optional).
Degree structure
International Business is offered as a Major within the B.Com degree. Students who complete the B.Com with good grades (and pass MGMT280 or ECON213) can also take the B.Com Honours (1-year) and M.Com (2-year) degrees in International Business. International Business courses are also available within the MBA programme and the MBM programme.
